Job Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic dietitian with a passion for oncology to provide expert dietetic care to patients at Queen Alexandra Hospital. This is a 1 year fixed term band 6 contract. The role will be across all tumour sites, but with a key focus on head and neck and upper-gastrointestinal malignancies across both inpatient and outpatient settings. You will be supported by the Head and Neck Specialist Dietitian alongside gastroenterology and oncology colleagues.
The post would be ideally suited for an experienced band 5 dietitian, or a junior band 6 dietitian looking to increase their clinical experience. Knowledge and experience of home enteral nutrition would be beneficial, although full support will be provided to complete clinical competencies. Appropriate developmental opportunities are encouraged to ensure ongoing clinical development and networking.
You will become an active member within oncology MDTs, working alongside specialist nurses and other AHPs such as radiographers to provide an outstanding service for patients.
As a team we strive for clinical excellence and development; research, service evaluations and projects are highly encouraged. Development of analytical and research skills will be supported and many of our dietitians have presented at conferences across the globe. Teaching opportunities and engagement with staff and the wider public are embraced.
Our department is actively involved in training student dietitians, and supervision of students from the University of Surrey and the University of Winchester is included within this role. You will be encouraged to take part in leadership training and will support junior members of the team when appropriate.
You will be based at the Queen Alexandra Hospital site as part of the Acute Dietetic team. A friendly team, we pride ourselves on our supportive nature. Part time and flexible working requests are welcomed and accommodated where possible.
