This is a Permanent post working 21 hours per week.
The Approved Mental Health Professional programme is seeking a Senior Lecturer to ensure the smooth running and delivery of specialist teaching on this highly successful course. This is a permanent part time position (2 days a week) and we are recruiting from a range of professionals with previous experience of working in the AMHP environment.
The AMHP Programme of study at Swansea University, Singleton Campus is written for those intending to become AMHPs, it is a 60 credit Post Graduate Certificate at Masters level, designed to meet the ‘Key Competences’ required by the Welsh Assembly Government and the ‘Key Skills’ considered by Social Care Wales to be appropriate for the role. The programme was introduced to meet the new roles and responsibilities for professionals working with individuals who are considered for, and who become subject to compulsory hospital admission and/or treatment and aftercare introduced in the Mental Health Act.
The department has a range of undergraduate and professional programmes, including the BSc Social Work and the BSc Social Policy. The department has several Post Graduate degrees, including an MSc Social Work. The AMHP programme is closely associated with the social work team. Social work at Swansea is highly regarded and currently ranked among the best in the UK. We have strong links with overseas universities, particularly the University of Houston. The department has a lively research culture, with a significant number of PhD students.
The post also requires high quality delivery of teaching and student learning and a commitment to enhancing the overall student experience.
The successful candidate will work alongside another co-director, and the Partnership Board from 16 Welsh Local Authorities, to ensure the strategic direction and delivery of the programme meets the requirements stipulated by the Welsh Assembly Government and Social Care Wales. The role-holder will also be required to work with the programme officer on a number of key issues and initiatives with the goal of ensuring the programme meets its course aims. The successful candidate will be provided the opportunity to further their academic and professional development.
