Sellick Partnership are currently recruiting for an Interim Closedown/End of Year Accountant to join one of our Local Authority clients for a minimum of 6 months. This is a crucial role within the structure and gives the successful applicant the chance to add real value to the existing team during a vital time of year.
Key responsibilities of the Closedown Accountant:
1. Leading the year end process
2. Working as an intermediary to explain any variance analysis
3. Preparation, reviewing, sense checking and proof reading of final accounts
4. Supporting colleagues in the resolution of accounting and budgetary issues
5. Treasury Management
6. Managing the Capital Programmes
7. VAT, Creditors
8. Provision of technical accounting and possibly budgetary advice
9. Preparing adjusting journals as necessary
10. Being the main point of contact for auditors
11. Leading the group consolidations
12. Ensuring the delivery against the audit schedules and timelines.
The successful Closedown Accountant will:
1. Must have experience of closing accounts for a Local Authority
2. Evidence of working within the Public/Local Authority Sector
3. Development and delivery of process improvements
4. Ideally be fully qualified and registered with professional accounting qualification such as CIMA, ACCA or equivalent
5. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to influence others
6. Self-starter experienced in leading on year-end and liaising with auditors
7. Advanced excel skills.
