Job overview
We are recruiting a Band 6 Costing Accountant role as a financial expert within our costing team to fill a vacancy based at Salisbury FT. This role will be employed by GWH Trust and based at Salisbury but there will be flexibility to work at either Trust locations.
Main duties of the job
The team is responsible for calculating the cost of all the activities which the Trust provides. We prepare mandatory cost returns, service line reports, and cost information for finance and service managers to help with decision making and benchmarking.
You will help manage and run the processes for producing the quarterly cost data. You will also proactively review and improve cost data by working with service teams in all disciplines, as well as closely with the Trust’s finance and informatics teams.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
As Costing Accountant, the postholder will take responsibility for one Trust’s costing system and maintain it to provide high quality data to support the Senior Finance Team, Divisional Directors/Managers, and Clinical Managers in all aspects of costing.
The postholder will produce the annual integrated national cost collection, a mandatory submission for all Trusts.

Experience
* Experience of providing costing information to managers
* Experience of computerised accounting systems
* Excellent IT skills, including database systems, advanced spreadsheets, pivots and graphical presentation
* NHS costing experience, including involvement in production of national cost collection
* Awareness of the current NHS agenda and challenges
Knowledge & Skills
* Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
* Accuracy, with attention to detail
* Able to work collaboratively with others
* Good organisational skills
* Proactive and keen to seek answers
* Ability to influence others
Education
* CCAB Part Qualified or with equivalent experience
* HFMA Membership
* Acute NHS experience
