Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist
We are looking for an experienced practitioner to join our hospital as part of a job share for 3 days a week (22.5 hours - days to be negotiated). Working within the mental health field, you will be our joint Clinical Lead for Occupational Therapy acute services based at Langley Green Hospital, Crawley. This will involve leading and managing our Occupational Therapy staff team in the adult in-patient mental health unit, as well as providing specialist clinical interventions and guidance.
Langley Green consists of four wards and we care for 70 patients within these. We also have an Acute Day Service, CRHT and Haven Service. We are passionate about delivering patient-centred care and involve patient feedback in every decision and improvement we make. We work hard to support staff wellbeing and aim to deliver compassionate and authentic leadership. You would work alongside a team of Band 7 Ward Managers and Team Leaders.
As well as holding a small caseload you will provide leadership for our dynamic and dedicated acute Occupational Therapy workforce which includes occupational therapists, support workers, activity co-ordinators, employment specialists and volunteers, focusing on high quality and effective assessment and intervention programmes.
You will be well supported with access to regular supervision, OT staff peer networks and a wide range of CPD and AHP training opportunities.
Main duties of the job
You will be joining our clinical leadership team to ensure that our service improvements include an occupational perspective. This will entail the implementation of evidence-based OT assessment tools and interventions, including our group programme and furthering initiatives around patient flow, peer support, vocation and carers' involvement.
As the clinical specialist OT, you will provide clinical input and expertise around complex cases working alongside the multi-disciplinary team as well as clinical and managerial supervision for your team. You will work in partnership with the other Band 7 to provide day to day line management for the Occupational Therapy staff team. The role will involve working closely with colleagues in community services and third sector providers, building effective partnerships.

Job responsibilities
To provide specialist occupational therapy interventions for referred clients. To promote and develop the role of Occupational Therapy within the clinical area. To act as lead specialist in the team.
To manage a caseload of complex clients, using evidence-based, client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
To provide specialist clinical advice and input for clients with complex problems and needs.
To ensure Occupational Therapy contribution to the provision of quality clinical care and performance standards.
To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of occupational therapy and local services within a designated team, holding responsibility for defined projects.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to minimum diploma level with a relevant qualification or equivalent experience.
* Evidence of CPD.
Knowledge/Experience
* Significant experience of and demonstrable achievement in clinical practice.
* Experience of providing professional support/supervision and motivation of staff.
* Understanding of Health and Social Care Governance.
* Experience of managing staff.
