IDD Occupational Therapy team are looking for a part time (22.5hr) Band 6 qualified clinician to join our busy Community Intellectual disabilities Team (CIDT) in a substantive position.
The position is a hybrid role with an office base at Fern House, Highbury Hospital but with some home working available and will cover the clinical patch of Gelding.
Our team is operational Monday – Friday 09.00am – 17.00pm and the successful applicant will be required to work three days per week
To provide occupational therapy as part of wider MDT within specialist services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Primary reason for OT input in IDD relates to individuals experiencing difficulties with any aspect of occupational performance resulting from their intellectual disability and associated health needs, which cannot be met in mainstream services.
The OT role in IDD sits within a wider multi-disciplinary and multi-agency team consisting of psychiatry, psychology, nurses, speech and language therapy, physiotherapy and co-located with social work colleagues.
The post holder will independently manage a caseload of adults with intellectual disabilities and complex needs whom may present with behaviours that may challenge
OT sessions are conducted in individuals homes, day centres, work places, residential care, group homes, supported living homes and respite care. Therefore, you will need to be able to travel across a large geographical area
You will participate in maintaining, planning, provision and developing the occupational therapy service and engaging in specific projects as directed by the leadership team
You will work autonomously and within an MDT team, screening, assessing, formulating, care planning, delivering interventions, providing education and consultation, evaluating and discharging in a timely manner
You will provide leadership and supervise junior staff and students
