We are seeking an enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) who is passionate about making a positive impact on children's lives. Our partner SEN School near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk provides a nurturing environment where small class sizes (maximum 10 students) and a minimum of 3 staff per class allow for tailored learning experiences. With the support of an experienced SLT and an onsite clinical team, you will be fully equipped to make a difference every day.
Key Responsibilities as a Learning Support Assistant (LSA):
Establish safe, caring, and supportive relationships with pupils, helping them feel secure and valued.
Use positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques to diffuse challenging behaviour.
Consistently role model positive behaviour to encourage pupils to develop self-regulation and social skills.
Support the delivery of high-quality, challenging, and engaging educational activities that promote personal and academic growth.
Work alongside the Class Teacher to create personalised intervention plans and adapt learning strategies.
Promote independence and celebrate every pupil’s achievements, no matter how small.
Collaborate within a multi-professional team to ensure the best outcomes for each child.
Learning Support Assistant (LSA) Skills & Requirements:
GCSE Maths and English Language (minimum Grade 4 or equivalent) is essential.
Experience or knowledge of working with children with SEMH, Autism, or challenging behaviour.
Strong understanding of positive behaviour strategies.
Ability to remain calm under pressure and diffuse difficult situations.
Must be commutable to Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.
