The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing mass spectrometry-based methods for the analysis of a range of a sample type from small molecules to new modality compounds, including oligonucleotides (oligos) and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). This role requires a strong background in mass spectrometry, method development, and a deep understanding of the unique challenges associated with analysing these complex molecules. In this role you will Develop, optimize, and validate mass spectrometry-based analytical methods for the characterization of novel chemical entities, including small molecules, protacs, oligonucleotides and antibody drug conjugates (ADCs). Investigate and implement novel technologies and improvements to methodologies to enhance capabilities. Perform routine and non-routine mass spectrometric analyses to support research projects. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including medicinal chemistry and modality platforms to provide analytical support and contribute to project goals. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to mass spectrometry and associated instrumentation and methods. Maintain and calibrate mass spectrometry instruments to ensure accurate and reliable data. Document and interpret experimental results, prepare technical reports, and present findings to key stakeholders. Stay current with advancements in mass spectrometry technologies and methodologies relevant to the analysis of new modality compounds. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory guidelines and GSK’s quality standards. Why you? Basic Qualifications & Skills: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: BSc in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field and demonstarted experience using mass spectrometry. Strong understanding of the principles of mass spectrometry, including ionization techniques, fragmentation patterns, and data interpretation. Proficient in using mass spectrometry data analysis software and tools. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex data to diverse audiences. Ability to work both independently and effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently. Preferred Qualifications & Skills: Please note the following skills are not necessary, just preferred, if you do not have them, please still apply: Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, or a related field with a focus on mass spectrometry, or a Master’s degree with significant relevant experience. Extensive hands-on experience with mass spectrometry instrumentation, including TOF mass spectrometers. Proven track record in developing and validating mass spectrometry-based methods for complex molecules, preferably oligonucleotides and ADCs. Experience with method development of associated chromatographic techniques such as LC, UPLC and RapidFire.
