Senior IT Infrastructure Manager
Location: Milton Keynes/Hybrid (2 days in the office p/week)
The role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of IT Infrastructure to join our growing and evolving IT team. The successful candidate will lead a team of three analysts and play a crucial role in transforming our current network, Active Directory, telephony, and server infrastructure into a modern, cloud-based environment. This role involves working closely with our security team to implement advanced monitoring and automation tools, with a focus on scalability and future growth. As a senior member of our technology team, you will be instrumental in shaping the future direction of our technology landscape.
What you'll be doing
1. Lead Infrastructure Migration: Spearhead the migration of existing in-house systems to a cutting-edge, cloud-based setup (including SASE and other relevant technologies), ensuring alignment with the company's long-term strategic goals.
2. Team Management: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of three analysts, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement, and preparing the team for future growth.
3. Collaboration with Security Team: Work closely with the security team and other teams across technology to ensure that all new systems and tools adhere to the highest security standards and align with business objectives.
4. Implementation of New Tools: Drive the selection and implementation of innovative tools and solutions for advanced monitoring, automation, and IT infrastructure optimisation.
5. Project Management: Oversee complex infrastructure projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
6. Vendor Management: Manage relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure the best value and performance.
7. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of the IT infrastructure and provide regular reports on the status and performance of systems.
We're looking for someone with
1. Extensive experience in IT infrastructure management and cloud migration.
2. Proficiency with cloud platforms such as Azure, GCP or AWS.
3. Strong understanding of SASE (Secure Access Service Edge) and its implementation.
4. Familiarity with network architecture, Active Directory, telephony systems, and server infrastructure.
5. Experience with advanced monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, Datadog, Nagios).
6. Knowledge of automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell).
Experience of:
1. Cloud management and deployment tools (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
2. Infrastructure security tools and best practices.
3. Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
4. Backup and disaster recovery solutions.
5. Strong leadership and team management skills.
6. Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
7. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
8. Proactive, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.
9. Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and manage multiple priorities.
What you'll bring to the role
1. A distinguished track record of managing and migrating IT infrastructures to the cloud in a senior capacity.
2. Extensive hands-on experience with a variety of cloud platforms and infrastructure technologies.
3. Demonstrated success in leading and developing high-performing IT teams.
4. Advanced project management skills with a history of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
5. Proven expertise in vendor management and negotiation.
6. Deep understanding of IT security practices and the ability to collaborate effectively with security teams.
7. Mastery in implementing and utilising advanced monitoring and automation tools to enhance IT operations.
