Overview of role
You’ll be responsible for supporting the development, delivery and implementation of evidence-based policy to support the delivery of TfL/Compliance Policing Operations and Security (CPOS) operational objectives around safety, security and reliability. Working to support the Operational Policy Manager, you’ll work in partnership with key internal and external stakeholders, in particular policing and enforcement partners, to guide, influence and implement policy development to improve the impact and effectiveness of enforcement and policing activity and overall response to problems on the transport network.
As part of the Operational Policy, Insight and Analysis team you will support and work alongside the Operational Policy Managers, to deliver the CPOS vision of safe, secure and reliable journeys, by applying the principles of prevention, problem solving and partnership working in all that you do.
Key Accountabilities
* Share and engage stakeholders with guidance and recommendations on key policy issues within the scope of the directorate's operational and strategic accountabilities, objectives and priorities
* Regularly update stakeholders to ensure they are updated on progress, through established forums
* Monitor, research and analyse benchmarking activity of other transport systems, cities and that of our transport policing partners to ensure our approach is in line with best practice
* Providing support to Operational Policy Managers- this could include secretariat support for stakeholder meetings, representing them at meetings
* Plan project deliverables and prioritise demanding workloads. Work together as a team to ensure that project deliverables and requests are prioritised and delivered effectively
* Work in collaboration with other teams across TfL to ensure that enforcement, compliance and policing priorities are considered as the earliest possible stage in the development of TfL policies and strategies
* Act as an advocate of the team and directorate, to ensure that best practice of Operational Policy development and efficiencies can be achieved
* Manage multiple projects/requests at one time, and deliver to agreed timescales- subject matter areas will include and will not be limited to Vision Zero, safeguarding, hate crime, women's safety

* Interpersonal skills and an ability to interact, build and develop effective working relationships with staff in a range of areas, organisations and roles (essential)
* Time management and organisation skills with the ability to work under pressure, meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment whilst maintaining a strong focus on accuracy and quality (essential)
* Proven research, verbal communication/presentation and written skills to enable policy writing and development (essential)
* Able to think strategically, bringing together a wide range of information in a structured and reasoned manner to draw conclusions and provide recommendations (essential)
* Able to use benchmarking activity and analysis to identify and evidence areas for improvement (essential)
Knowledge
* A good understanding of TfL's objectives (essential)
* Good knowledge and understanding of the major issues affecting the provision of policing and transport services in London (essential)
* Good knowledge of principles of evidence-based policing and the Scanning Analysis Response and Assessment (SARA) problem-solving approach (essential)
* Good knowledge of TfL organisation, culture and structure (desirable)
Experience
* Experience working in a partnership with a number of key internal and external stakeholders (essential)
* Experience in writing high quality documentation and reports (essential)
* Experience of managing own workloads, updating colleagues and planning project deliverables (essential)
* Experience of an operational environment with an understanding of the prioritisation of resources (desirable)
