About St Mary’s CE Primary School:
St Mary’s CE Primary School is a welcoming and friendly school. We encourage and nurture the growth of every individual and their uniqueness, so that all flourish and become all that they can be and all that God made them to be. We accomplish this through our unwavering Christian ethos and through God’s love where we encourage each individual to love, respect and value themselves and others.
The school was inspected in November 2022 maintaining its status of Good, with some excellent comments and affirmations:
‘Leaders have ensured that there is a broad and ambitious curriculum for all. Subject leaders’ curriculums are well thought through. They design and sequence them to build on what pupils know. They have ensured that content taught in the early years prepares children well for Year 1 and beyond. Teachers receive regular curriculum training. This provides them with strong subject knowledge. As a result, they teach the curriculum effectively, and pupils, including those with SEND, achieve well.’
‘Leaders have high expectations of pupils’ behaviour and achievement. Pupils work hard and behave very well. They are unfailingly polite and listen carefully to their teachers. Children from the early years upwards have positive attitudes to learning. Classrooms are calm and purposeful. This enables learning to take place free from interruptions.’
‘Staff feel valued by leaders. They are appreciative of the consideration that leaders and governors show for their wellbeing and workload.’
‘Pupils love coming to St Mary’s and enjoy their learning. Parents and carers share their children’s positive views about the school.’
St Mary’s has also had a very recent SIAM’s Inspection (Oct 2024) where the report states “St Mary’s is a school where love thrives... The school vision to ‘love one another’ is a strength in school. It underpins the positive relationships between staff, pupils and their families.”
Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and encouraged. Visits can be arranged by contacting the school office on 0161 770 8309.
St Mary’s CE Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils. Appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS check.
