AtkinsRéalis Transportation Project Delivery Practice (PDP) is the centre of excellence for the delivery of Major Transportation infrastructure projects and combines the best in project management and design management to provide a full suite of services to clients in the public and private sectors. The team is responsible for delivery of design services across our markets of Rail, Highways, Local Transport, and lean out into other sectors including Defence and Nuclear. We have a wide client base including HS2, Highways England, Network Rail, Irish Rail, Local Authorities, as well as several Principal Contractors. This is an excellent opportunity within the PDP Rail and Transit team for talented individuals to take overall accountability for the performance and delivery of projects from inception through to completion. This role offers the chance of career development and experience expansion across a wide range of challenging and exciting projects. The position is likely to combine agile working from our offices with time at client offices and sites. UK based and willing to travel 2-3 days per week across UK and Ireland to be involved in some of our most exciting flagship projects. Your purpose: Delivery and Leadership
* Working with the support of the wider project management and engineering teams, you will be accountable to the business for the successful delivery of projects.
* Assure that projects meet business revenue, profit and cash-flow expectations, and that reports are a true and accurate reflection of the project status.
* Act as the figurehead of your projects. Ensure that a suitably competent Project Manager and Project Technical Reviewer is appointed on your projects.
* Assure that resource capacity planning has been undertaken to meet requirements.
* Ensure that there is a common understanding of requirements and scope, programme, costs, constraints, risk and interfaces across the team.
* Act as senior point of escalation internally and externally.
Governance and Commercial
* Ensure compliance with Client, Business Management, Governance, Technical, HSE and Quality requirements.
* Ensure project management and contract administration through the project life cycle.
Community and Development
* Play a leading role in the Project Management community to share best practice and learnings and help ensure a consistent approach to delivery.
* Mentor and develop Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers and other team members, as required.
Client
* Develop and maintain client relationships to support project delivery performance and maximise future pipeline of works.
* Work closely with the Regional Client Directors to shape and deliver Transportation Rail strategy for the region.
* Act as a senior leader taking accountability on selective bids, including some of our largest pursuits.
You will be an established Project Director and likely to have extensive experience of multi-disciplinary delivery and contract administration on rail infrastructure projects.
* Experience of undertaking accountable Project Director roles on multidisciplinary design projects (>£5M design fees).
* Experience of working with Network Rail and/or HS2 and Principal Contractors - desirable.
* Understand and has experience in deploying various forms of construction contract, in particular NEC3 or 4 and/or bespoke forms of contract.
* Professional membership and recognised level of Project Management competence (eg. MAPM, MICE, PMQ, ChPP, or equivalent) - desirable.
