We are currently working with a global financial institution to recruit a VP in Business Risk. This role will be part of the Markets Governance & Control team as a Markets Controls Testing Manager. You will be part of the 1st Line of Defence (1LOD) Markets Controls Testing team, responsible for executing a comprehensive, risk-based control testing programme across all Markets businesses globally. This role supports management in continuously monitoring the control framework and residual risk profiles, ensuring responsible financial service provision and effective risk management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan, execute, and report control testing results for Markets Trading and Sales businesses.
2. Supervise and coach junior team members to control testing execution.
3. Monitor testing programme execution to agreed timelines, escalating and resolving obstacles.
4. Maintain high standards and best practices for testing activities.
5. Challenge stakeholders on control design and effectiveness.
6. Support stakeholders in determining necessary control remediation.
7. Maintain strong relationships with Front Office, Markets Conduct Risk, Compliance, and Operational Risk.
8. Present impactful summary outputs from the testing programme to stakeholders.
9. Provide market control subject matter expertise across all three lines of defence.
Knowledge, Experience & Skills:
1. Understanding of business activities and associated regulations.
2. Knowledge of Markets Operational and Compliance risks and related controls.
3. Strong understanding of control design assessment and effectiveness testing techniques.
4. Experience in Front Office controls testing, internal audit, external audit/control consulting, or similar disciplines.
5. Experience in coaching and developing team members.
6. Proven ability to oversee a team with rigor and attention to detail.
7. Effective senior stakeholder relationship management.
8. Track record of providing constructive, effective challenge on risk management matters.
This role will be hybrid with 3 days working from the office in Belfast. Although the role is initially for a 12-month period there is a high possibility of extension.
