Job title: Principal Engineer – Aviation
Location: UK Wide (have to be able to travel to Scotstoun once a month)
Salary: Up to £60,100 depending on qualifications and experience
What you’ll be doing:
* Act as an subject matter expert within the aviation Integrated Platform Team and Aviation working groups. Developing key aviation systems, creating and managing changes in the design and reporting your progress against the plan
* Co-ordinating with systems engineers and detail designers on the integration of aviation systems to key stakeholders both within BAE and with other partners in the CSC programme
* Writing and updating technical documentation for aviation systems and co-ordinating with suppliers to ensure delivery to the agreed specification
* Generating and updating engineering change and design documentation in line with the programme’s contractual obligations
* Reviewing aviation compartment layouts for presentation to and review by stakeholders, to allow Stage 2 detailed design to correctly model these spaces for build
* Management of small single sub-discipline teams
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
* Experience working in Naval or Aerospace engineering, within a highly regulated industry
* Possesses in-depth knowledge of the fundamentals within aviation.
* An ability to communicate verbally, in writing and conduct presentations to management and peers
* Able to perform analysis using recognised analytical tools and methods to make sound engineering judgements
· Able to self-motivate, keep organised and work both independently and in a geographically remote team
Desirable:
* Experience with aviation systems, shipboard systems, ship or aviation and compartment design
* Knowledge of developing systems, managing requirements and solving technical integration issues
* Experience with aviation support systems, especially for Helicopters
* Experience of engineering change and management of change
* Knowledge of the engineering lifecycle and product development stages
Applicants should ideally be Degree qualified or have equivalent experience, likely to be in a technology, engineering, science or IT related discipline.
Applicants should be a Chartered Engineer or hold another equivalent professional registration with a relevant institution.
