Part-time Personal Assistant
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am a 14 year old girl living in Barry with my family; I have Autism and I have limited communication skills but I can communicate my needs through gestures and other non-verbal ways. My behaviour can sometimes be challenging when I get agitated and upset, at these times I need my personal assistant to keep me and others around me safe. I require a consistent and committed person who can work either one evening a week for 3 hours or 2 evenings a week at 1.5 hrs each
I enjoy lots of activities such as walking / running along the beach, having an ice-cream, going swimming, roller skating and listening to music. The Ideal candidate would be a teacher or LSA with experience of Autism and challenging behaviour, I also have epilepsy but generally only have seizures once a month. It will be essential that the worker has a clean driving license and access to a car as they will be expected to drive.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The purpose of the job is to support me to enjoy social activities out in the community while ensuring my safety at all times, I am looking an experienced Personal Assistant. You may also be supporting me in my home on occasions to do enjoyable activities.
HOURS OF WORK
3 hours a week
Weekday afternoon / evening (I get home from school at 4pm)
RATE OF PAY
£12.60 per hour
TASKS CAN INCLUDE
· Taking me swimming
· Taking me to interesting places
· Discovering fun new activities for me to do
· Ensuring my safety at all times
· Using your own car to take me places
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
· Experience of working with autistic children and epilepsy
· Someone who will be sensitive to my needs
· Someone who is reliable
· A driver with access to own vehicle will also be essential
· Someone who can use their own initiative
· Flexible
· Positive approach to this type of work
ABOUT THE JOB
Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay.
