Job description
We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic Senior Regional Health and Safety Advisor to join our fast paced and agile team.
The Regional Health and Safety Support Team (RHSST) are subject matter experts in Health and Safety (H&S) and are embedded into DIO 2* & 1* areas. We are geographically dispersed throughout the UK and Overseas.
As part of DIO Technical Services, we provide independent H&S advice and guidance and are a professionalsupport network for DIO business areas in respect of H&S issues.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting a dedicated area of DIO with competent H&S advice, guidance and support for that area.
Providing all aspects of health and safety advice and support, you will be involved in incident reporting and investigation, conducting audits and assurance exercises, attending meetings, delivering familiarisation training, as well as providing guidance and mentorship and developing policy. Through proactive engagement, you will seek to monitor and develop DIO�s systems and culture to ensure compliance and positive health and safety behaviours across the organisation, our suppliers and service providers.

Person specification
Reporting to the Assistant Head of the Regional Health and Safety Support Team the post holder will be responsible for providing independent and professional H&S support and advice to DIO business areas.
Ensure compliance with regulations and best practice to maintain a safe and healthy work environment for employees.
Assist in policy development by ensuring the provision of specialist H&S advice. Assist in supporting the implementation of the DIO Safety Strategy, Policies, and Procedures (JSP 815).
Undertake and support Health and Safety Assurance Programmes. Working collaboratively to deliver a co-ordinated assurance program � developed in collaboration with stakeholders � with the primary aim of identifying non-conformances and maximising opportunities for improvement and driving up standards. Proactively seeks 2LOD and 3LOD activities including external assurance. Ensure actions identified are recorded, suitable actions are identified and managed, and these are monitored through to completion.
Promote accident & incident reporting across DIO and support as necessary including awareness training. Act as the Advisor for�Health Safety & Environmental Protection (HS&EP)�accidents or incidents supporting investigations due to the technical nature or severity of the event. Conduct root cause analysis and identify learning points as required, and performance monitoring.
Carry out H&S specific training as requested for DIO staff to support individual departments in meeting their mandatory and risk-specific training needs.
Represent the DIO Regional Health & Safety Team at meetings, committees, conferences and other stakeholder engagement functions.
Experience:
Essential experience:
H&S experience in facilities, estates or construction management in an Advisory or Assurance Role.
Providing H&S advice and guidance against current legislation.
Experience conducting H&S assurance/audits against legislation/management systems.
Excellent written and verbal skills, organisational skills, time management, interpersonal & relationship management skills.
Desirable Experience
Knowledge of MOD procedures and unique use of facilities.�
Working knowledge of MOD policies relating to H&S.
Licences
Full UK Driving License
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
�Level 6 Health and Safety Qualification NeBOSH Diploma or evidence of actively working towards.
Desirable Qualifications:
�Auditing expertise and qualification.

Allowances

Employment Hours
The post advertised is for 37 hours net, however the Ministry of Defence offers a range of flexibilities to enable a better work-life balance for employees. Flexible working, Part-time working and Job Share working patterns will be considered.#
Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working.� This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance.
