Your key accountabilities
The core capability requirements for this role are:
1. Provide practical operational skills training, including firearms training, to police officers and other clients.
2. Apply adult education methodologies relevant to Queensland Police Service operational skills training programs and internal education and training policies and processes.
3. Provide leadership, supervision and support to staff.
4. Assess program participants and prepare required reports based on these assessments.
5. Plan, facilitate and review the delivery and assessment of education and training programs.
6. Liaise with and develop effective working relationships with members of the Queensland Police Service and other agencies and individuals.
7. Contribute to the continuous improvement of course curricula by conducting research, evaluation and development relating to the area of training.
8. Maintain information management and other administrative systems to monitor and record training and assessment.
9. Continue ongoing personal development and training to ensure best practice in the effectiveness of personal and instructional skills.

Mandatory:
* An Open “C” class licence is required.
Qualification:
There are no mandatory qualifications for this role however, formal qualifications in Assessment and Training (e.g. Certificate IV or higher) would be highly regarded.
Other:
The successful applicant must be required to successfully complete all relevant operational skills and tactics courses if not already in possession of equivalent qualifications including but not limited to District Firearms Training Officer Course, Police Operational Skills and Tactics Instructors Course, Taser Instructor Course, Active Armed Offender Instructor Course, First Aid and Tactical First Aid Training Instructors course.
* Hearing: Short listed applicants will be required to undergo a baseline hearing assessment by a QPS approved PEMS provider. The hearing assessment will be evaluated without the use of artificial aids and a loss of 35 decibels on the ISO 389 scale (at 500, 1000, 2000Hz), no more than 40 decibels (at 3000Hz) and no more than 50 decibels (at 4000Hz on a pure tone audiometer) in either ear is considered significant and is normally unacceptable for recruiting purposes. Successful applicants will be required to undergo yearly hearing tests and at any time as deemed necessary by QPS.
* Blood Lead Level: Successful applicants will be required to undergo a baseline blood level test prior to commencing firearms activities and will be required to undertake further testing as deemed necessary by QPS.
