Clinical Vascular Scientist / Advanced Clinical Physiologist

The vascular ultrasound team at the Royal Derby Hospital is looking to employ an SVT Accredited Clinical Vascular Scientist (AVS). This opportunity is for a Vascular Scientist to join our friendly and dynamic vascular ultrasound team. The vascular service supports a range of healthcare professionals across surgery, medicine, and diagnostics. We have 2 purpose-built ultrasound suites and a dedicated scan room in the TIA clinic, all spacious and featuring air conditioning and PACS reporting stations.
Main duties of the job
You will be expected to perform a wide range of vascular investigations, including carotid and temporal artery scans, upper and lower limb arterial and venous duplex scans, AAA and graft surveillance scans. Non-imaging tests such as ABPI are also performed. Additionally, you will provide teaching, audit, supervisory, and managerial support. We actively encourage continuous professional development.
The vascular ultrasound service is expanding to provide vascular imaging services to other hospitals within the Trust, which may involve cross-site working. This post will also involve some weekend on-call work on a rota basis, providing imaging for the 7 day-a-week TIA service.

Person Specification
Knowledge, Skills, & Experience
* Post graduate qualification in vascular ultrasound, AVS accreditation, or equivalent experience
* Significant post graduate experience as Vascular sonographer
* Extensive knowledge and experience in performing a broad range of vascular investigations
* Evidence of leading a small team
* Accreditation in ILS
Analytical Skills
* Competent in analysing, interpreting, and reporting on highly complex specialist vascular investigations
* Able to sign off own reports
* Ability to audit other physiologists'/health care scientist reports
* Previous experience in training others in vascular ultrasound
Communication
* Evidence of excellent communication skills with patients, staff, colleagues, GP, and doctors
* Education and training skills with experience of training and assessment
