Urban-Care is committed to enabling development and independence of children and young people via creative and flexible care planning. Our service supports vulnerable children and young people whom cannot remain within their family home via our small intimate service specifically tailored to their needs. We recognise all children and young people are different and in this sense their support needs vary too, we offer care in small low occupancy homes. Urban-Care is founded upon an extensive knowledge of Local Authority Specialist Childrens Services, and we will tailor packages of support for the individual young person ensuring the very best chance of success. The exciting and dynamic role of a support worker within this organisation will enhance and enrich the lives of children and young people, offering them stability and an environment where they can feel safe to start working through their trauma. Your role will be working within our homes supporting individuals to manage their day to day tasks their own homes. Working directly with the children and young people, you will be pivotal to their success, you will support all areas of their lives meaning no two days will be the same. Our clients will have bespoke packages of care and support, you will be working from clear and robust care/pathway plans that will evidence the progress you are enabling. The flexibility within our service provided to children and young people is service wide, as we are requiring support workers to work a range of shifts, this includes mornings, afternoon, sleep ins and weekend shifts. You will be accountable to your line manager, and be supervised by an experienced social worker. Working with vulnerable children and young people your working requirements are subject to change, and some flexibility maybe required. You will need to be able and willing to work varying shifts. Urban-Care is dedicated to improving outcomes for children and young people placed with us by a range of Local Authorities, written notes to evidence the working session is required. Owing to the range of service offered by Urban-Care you will need to be confident working alone with one or more children and young people. Working with vulnerable children and young people you will need to be mindful of safeguarding at all times to ensure the young people and adults we support are safe and risks are managed. As an organisation we subscribe to the NWG Network you will need to willing to undertake regular training both direct and online. You will need to ensure you are confident in the identification of abuse and vulnerabilities with young people, including but not restricted to child sexual exploitation. This role is subject to enhanced DBS checks, all job offers are subject to successful DBS checks. Be sensitive to the needs of individual young people, taking account of race, culture, language, and religion. Contribute to care planning, participating in reviews and other meetings as required, and to assist in the implementation of care plans. To provide for the young peoples physical needs as necessary, for example by cooking, washing, ironing, shopping, budgeting, or by enabling the purchase of household items. To ensure that every young person is treated fairly and as an individual entitled to respect and dignity. To act as a member of the staff team, supporting colleagues and being prepared to receive support as necessary. To share in the practical activities necessary to maintain a home Experience Previous experience in home care or a related field is preferred but not essential. Familiarity with creating and following care plans is advantageous. Strong communication skills are necessary for effective interaction with clients and families. Experience working with children is beneficial for those providing childcare support. Basic IT skills may be required for documentation and communication purposes.
