About Thebusinessunit

The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Overview Of The Role

The Secondary Design Substation Draftsperson is responsible for preparing detailed electrical drawings, layouts, and documentation for medium voltage substations. This role involves working closely with engineers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver accurate, high-quality designs.

Key Responsibilities And Duties Include


* Drafting and Design Preparation:
o Prepare detailed electrical drawings for substation secondary systems, including protection, control, and communication systems
o Develop layouts and details for cable trenches, duct banks, and equipment foundations
o Create interface circuit diagrams, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, block diagrams, and room layouts
* Technical Specifications:
o Prepare and review technical specifications and documentation for substation secondary systems
o Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and company policies
* Collaboration with Engineers:
o Work closely with primary design engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive secondary system designs
o Incorporate design feedback and revisions from engineers to finalize drawings
o Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for consistency in designs and details
* Documentation and Reporting:
o Maintain and organize drawing sets, revisions, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle
o Generate reports and maintain logs for design progress and drawing submissions
* Quality and Compliance:
o Conduct self-checks and peer reviews of drawings to ensure accuracy and completeness
o Follow quality control procedures to maintain high drafting standards
Candidate specification

Essential

* Diploma or Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Drafting, or a related field
* Proficiency in AutoCAD and other drafting software
* Knowledge of medium voltage systems and substation design
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
