As a leading provider of engineering and construction services to the UK transmission and distribution sector, we are at the forefront of net zero 2050 with a secured workstream for years to come. The Senior Commercial Manager opportunity provides flexibility as a hybrid role, working between home, and ideally our Glasgow or Aberdeen office, with occasional site visits. Alternatively, we can consider a remote based working from home option with the flexibility to travel on a needs basis. LI-Hybrid The Role Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will be delivering the business’ portfolio of projects in Scotland, driving commercial success and managing project risks by enhancing service offerings, fostering team expertise, ensuring compliance with policies, resolving disputes, implementing effective governance, overseeing the tender process, directing contract activities throughout their lifecycle, and aligning commercial strategies with business unit objectives. This role is perfect for an established Senior Commercial Manager from a civils or construction background with experience of delivering large projects, managing the tender process and overseeing a team delivering a portfolio of projects of various sizes. The preferred candidate will have a degree in Quantity Surveying, Law, or Business Studies, alongside substantial relevant experience, including proven experience in leadership roles, expertise in contract administration and negotiations, a commitment to corporate values, and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. The ideal candidate will also possess extensive EPC experience, demonstrating independence, proactivity, and strong leadership in managing large-scale projects, and will oversee delivery of overhead line and underground cable construction contracts with our clients SSE and Scottish Power. Manage and lead approval reviews in line with company delegations of authority. Ensure compliance with Wood's commercial policies and processes, including risk management and contractual negotiation strategies Manage main contract administration, including commercial deliverables, correspondence, and change management Develop and maintain project commercial strategies, including cost analysis, cashflow forecasts, and invoice management Develop subcontracting strategies, compile subcontract documents, and ensure proper cost management Prepare and analyse inputs for contract and project reporting, and participate in monthly project reviews Implement the Financial Management Framework and align project-specific requirements with Wood's processes Resource and supervise commercial personnel, ensuring their development and training Coordinate contract reviews, develop qualifications, and manage claims in conjunction with the legal team Qualifications What makes you remarkable?
