Role overview We are looking for a new Theatre Assistant to join our Suffolk team, working between our Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds sites. This will be 36 hours over 4 days per week including weekends, on a rota basis. Theatre Assistants are the public face of Newmedica and are integral to the successful operation of the theatre. They are responsible for assisting with the provision of patient care, supporting the operating department and ensuring safe and efficient care is provided to all patients. Combining a friendly and accessible personal manner with teamwork skills and surgical knowledge, they pride themselves in delivering excellent patient experience. They have the ability to work independently, and within the wider team, to maintain and enhance processes to maximise quality and efficiency. No clinical knowledge is assumed (full training will be given) but intellectual curiosity is required. It is expected that the company’s growth plans will provide ongoing challenges for the post-holders as well as appropriate career development opportunities. What skills and experience do I need? We’ll provide training so experience isn’t always needed, but the following things will be advantageous: • A good level of general education or with equivalent experience • GCSE Maths and English • Proven customer service skills with a passion for customer care. • Previous experience of working with patients or carers would be desirable although not essential. • Ability to build a working knowledge of eye physiology and treatment. • Previous experience is not expected. • Fully computer literate - comfortable with Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn new patient record systems.
