Our client is seeking to strengthen and expand its Geotechnical National Service line by recruiting an Associate Director for either their Glasgow or Perth office.

As team leader looking at ground movement analysis you will work with our structural engineers on our portfolio of major developments nationally.
You will work closely with other colleagues to deliver integrated ground investigations, interpretative reports and geotechnical design advice for a wide range of projects including tall towers, deep basements, retaining walls, ground improvement and earthworks by using a collective national and local resource.
You will be part of the national service line and one of your key tasks will be ensuring you utilise the technical support within the regions by sharing work around the business, as well as the local teams to deliver GMA and design to enhance a resilient and technically strong national virtual team. You will need to be technically strong as well as able to work closely with structural and civil engineers, both on a technical and personal basis and you will be very familiar with “the one team culture” environment as a champion yourself.
Your core responsibilities would include:
1. Design management of aspects of projects on behalf of the Geotechnical National Service Line to ensure projects are delivered competently, effectively, on budget and on time.
2. Perform geotechnical analysis and data interpretation using FEM 2D and 3D.
3. Critically appraise a site based on available data and highlight key geotechnical design considerations.
4. Prepare interpretative geotechnical reports.
5. Undertake tunnel and other 3rd party asset assessments.
6. Work under the technical management and direction of the National Service line lead for Geotechnics whilst reporting locally via cost centre to a Regional Director.
7. Collaborative and supportive of the NSL you will ensure work is shared nationally and that you train and mentor the national technical team as directed by the NSL UK lead.
Key to this role is the ability to acknowledge management structure and be a very effective team player within the company designated structure on a national level.
To be a success in this role, you should ideally:
1. Chartered Engineer preferably with a first Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering and Masters in Geotechnics.
2. Ability to use PLAXIS 2D and 3D, PDISP, XDISP, WALLOP and SETTLE 3D to teach and mentor others and undertake cat 3 checks on 3rd party work.
3. Strong team player able to take instruction and provide timeous support when required, able to report to both NSL lead and RD on local level.
4. Have a sound understanding of geotechnical principles in relation to structural design of buildings in central London.
5. A strong track record of central London projects including tall towers and deep basements.
6. Be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and to be able to build and develop relationships, nationally with colleagues.
7. Ability to work with structural engineers and to respond to their geotechnical queries on a daily basis.
8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
9. Ability to work with other team leaders as part of a group at equal standing in the national service line, lead by the NSL lead.
10. Strong attention to detail.
