We are looking for a registered Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to join our team with previous experience working in an outpatient clinic setting, and existing knowledge and clinical skills of the hand/wrist. Splinting experience is preferred but not essential, and there will be opportunities for the successful candidate to shadow and learn basic splinting skills if required.
Please note this post includes the opportunity to work from home on one of the days, and the others are face-to-face clinical between Hereford County Hospital (main base) and Ross-On-Wye Community Hospital.
Ideally, the role will need to commence end of March 2025 to allow adequate caseload handover and the opportunity to shadow the department's daily routine and processes.
Main duties of the job
Provide high-quality hand therapy assessment and specialised treatment to adults and paediatric patient caseload. The role covers acute trauma, elective post-operative care, acquired conditions and/or complex condition management, and rheumatoid conditions.
You will be required to manage your own outpatient diary, maintain appropriate treatment plans with the support of two occupational therapy assistant practitioners, and be supervised by the occupational therapy hand therapist band 7 team leader.
Splinting is required in this role, and there is the opportunity for splinting teaching and practice during the induction to the role. The applicant should be confident with exercise prescription and have a good understanding of occupational functional performance related to hand/wrist conditions.
