We have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Manufacturing Technician, to join our onsite Equipment Engineering team in Southampton. If you have ever wondered what the machines that build parts for a satellites look like, this is the job for you.
We as a group we build, test, repair, install and decommission equipment from the basic handheld voltmeter up to Electron-beam deposition machines and beyond, if you have an interest to learn a broad range of engineering skills including electrical, electronic, mechanical, Vacuum systems, Pneumatic, Lasers, software & Hydraulics in a predominantly hands on role, this could be the job for you!
What you will do as an Apprentice Manufacturing Technician
Your main activities may include, but not be limited to:
* Solve daily manufacturing problems
* Conduct non-conformance investigations and problem solving techniques
* Dealing with external suppliers
* Write / update process instructions
* Carry out repairs of electrical / electronic and mechanical equipment
* Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on a wide range of processing equipment.
* Ensure equipment safety and compliance in line with Health and Safety regulations
* Work towards Leonardo Sustainability and climate goals.
* Representing Leonardo at local STEM event
You will attend college 1 day a week to complete a Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ)
Salary: 17,850
What we need from you:
Y ou really must have:
2 x GCSE grades 3 - 9 or grades A - D, or equivalent (e.g. Functional Skills Level 2), Mandatory: English & Maths or equivalent
* Good communication skills (written & verbal)
* Ability to work as a part of a small team
* Demonstrate a hands on approach to work
* Good Time Management Skills
* Eye for detail
* Conscientious and keen to learn
* It would be nice if you had:
* A working knowledge of MS (Word and Excel), and general IT skills
* Knowledge of programming (C or Python)
* Knowledge of CAD
* Knowledge/experience of Engineering
* Calibration and repair of commercial and bespoke test equipment.
