Job Overview
We are seeking a General Manager to join our team at our 37-year-old bakery store in Gants Hill. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership skills, operational expertise, and a passion for delivering outstanding service. This role is critical in overseeing the daily operations of our business, ensuring the success of all departments while creating a positive experience for both staff and customers.
Responsibilities
Customer Experience:
* Ensure that all customers receive outstanding service through friendly engagement, professional interactions, and an inviting atmosphere.
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the shop and outside seating areas to enhance the customer experience.
* Ensure the shop and products reflect high standards of presentation and consistency.
Team Leadership:
* Lead, inspire, and manage team members to achieve high performance in a positive working environment.
* Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of staff to ensure a knowledgeable and capable team.
* Conduct regular team meetings and one-to-ones to align goals, address concerns, and recognise achievements.
Operational Excellence:
* Oversee the day-to-day operations of the bakery, kitchen, and shop, ensuring seamless workflow across departments.
* Identify areas for operational improvement and implement changes to optimise efficiency and productivity.
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food hygiene regulations, conducting regular checks to maintain and exceed standards.
Product Management:
* Ensure that staff are knowledgeable about the bakery’s products, including ingredients, allergens, and preparation methods, enabling them to confidently assist customers.
* Ensure that product displays and the overall layout of the shop are visually appealing, restocking as necessary and adjusting based on customer trends.
Business Development:
* Analyse sales data and customer feedback to identify trends and opportunities for growth.
* Collaborate with senior management to set and achieve business objectives.
Experience
* Proven experience in a management role within the food retail or hospitality industry.
* Strong understanding of food safety standards and practices.
* Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop a diverse team.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a customer-centric approach.
* Strong analytical skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
* Demonstrated ability to drive operational improvements and achieve business targets.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £32,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
