Purpose of the Role The Engineering & Energy Manager will be the technical services support for all functions and services within the site location. Not only will they have knowledge in a variety of engineering and technical disciplines, but they will also act as one of technical ambassador for Television Centre, its occupiers and customers. A client and customer facing role, the Engineering & Energy Manager is required to support and maintain effective management of systems and procedures in the delivery and continuity of service of the Mechanical, Electrical, VT, Public Health and BMS Infrastructure Services and Energy performance across the development, while protecting and enhancing the landlord’s assets. The Engineering & Energy Manager, contributes to the management of Health, Safety and Wellbeing for all users of the Estate. The Engineering & Energy Manager will report into the Senior Engineering and Energy Manager and work alongside & collaborate with the wider property team onsite, supporting where necessary. They will provide strategic technical understanding, strong contractor management, as well as operational planning and solutions covering MEP, Vertical Transportation operations and Energy Management with a view to providing a world class service. As a strong communicator, they will act as the Managing Agent interface for technical activity with the assistance and support as required by the Central Engineering and Operations team. Key Responsibilities Leadership & People Management Support in the leadership of a multidisciplinary team and maintenance contract to achieve estate and client strategic goals, ensuring high direct and indirect service delivery standards. Fostering a culture of energy management, conservation and sustainability awareness. Operational/Technical Assist in the oversight of technical services, ensuring proactive asset management, cost-effective solutions and compliance with CAFM systems and energy reporting. Support the development of energy conservation and environmental programs, aligning with the client’s ESG strategy. Implement energy management initiatives through smart optimisation programmes and decarbonisation initiatives. Review building energy analytics to adjust system settings to optimise energy use. To lead on energy conservation by identifying and implementing various options for saving energy MEP Management Develop and maintain maintenance strategies for facilities, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and lease requirements. Ensure adherence to, on behalf of the Landlord and occupiers, the technical obligations within the occupier lease agreements. Manage all base build defects ensuring the information on the defect is sent to the relevant parties until the defect is rectified. Customer & Stakeholder Engagement Understand and report on energy performance, utilising ESG KPI’s across Energy, Carbon and Water. Building strong relationships with stakeholders. Support tenant fit outs, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, statutory requirements and energy efficiency standards. Lead ESG initiatives and energy awareness among tenants. Service Partner Management Site delivery partners include but are not limited to: Vertical Transport MEP Maintenance partners UKPN / SSE Telecom and ICT providers Utility partners Savills Specialist Consultancy teams Working collaboratively with the appointed M&E service partners to actively manage, maintain and monitor building systems (either directly or within engineering team), including HVAC, lighting, controls/ BMS, and renewable energy systems, to optimise energy efficiency and performance. Implement processes with mechanical and electrical engineering service provider to ensure energy management is key focus, including BMS and plant checks that extend scope to include energy review (in addition to purely system being operational). Attend key monthly meetings with the associated service partners. Review Partners reports and any proposals, liaising with internal departments for guidance and management where required. Ensure compliance with all current legislation and recommended standards are attained through the MEP Systems. Ensure that all statutory inspections are carried out by the due date and manage/monitor progress of actions via external reports spreadsheet attached to appropriate minutes. Develop effective relationships with the key technical stakeholders and supply chain to ensure faults or conflicts can be escalated and resolved in a timely manner. Attend energy optimisation sessions with external consultants, report on performance and site activities, and highlight energy saving opportunities. Health, Safety & Risk Management Oversee health and safety compliance for technical systems, ensuring full risk management, incident reporting, and adherence to environmental and safety policies. Maintain compliance with energy regulations and manage NABERS energy ratings. Financial Management Ensure that all instructed works are given a valid purchase order in line with Savills policies. Maintain an understanding and control the M&E budget lines entrusted to the Engineering team. Skills, Knowledge and Experience A Building Services Engineer with industry credibility and track record in an engineering management role. Able to manage a variety of people indirectly via service partners and contractors. Able to develop relationships at all levels. Understanding of service partner contractual KPI’s and SLA’s and how to monitor and manage. Knowledge of and understanding MEP, Fabric and Energy Management within a Property Management Environment. Experience of working in a mixed-use building and engaging with residents along with other stakeholders. Understanding of managing critical infrastructure including complex High Voltage networks. Strong IT Skills. Alterations/Fit Outs experience. Ideally holds H&S qualification IOSH/NEBOSH. Operational knowledge of critical works and change management systems. Operational knowledge of HV/LV Networks and shutdown management. Working Hours - 8am-5pm, Mon-Fri Salary - £55,000 - £65,000 DOE Please see our Benefits Booklet for more information.
