Job summary (Please note this vacancy is only open to applicants with appropriate NHS experience) This post would suit an individual who aims to pursue a career in Palliative Medicine, and who wishes to develop an interest in teaching. The successful candidate will be involved in coordinating and providing the undergraduate clinical teaching programme (5 sessions per week per annual average) and will undertake 5 sessions of clinical duties and professional development. The main clinical duties are to support a ward10-bedded palliative care in-patient unit on the Queen Elizabeth Hospital site (St Bede's Unit). There will also be opportunities for clinical sessions with the community and hospital liaison specialist palliative care teams. The department provides undergraduate teaching to medical students from Newcastle University across all stages of undergraduate education - from early clinical experience visits to ward based assistantships. Teaching is provided in a variety of clinical settings and the post holders will be expected to spend approximately five sessions per week teaching undergraduate medical students and will be trained as simulation training faculty members whilst in post. The post holders will be expected to participate in student induction sessions and assessment sessions along with the Consultants.
