Job summary
Post holders will be appointed at band 2 or band 3 depending upon qualifications.
Band 2 requirements - willingness to undertake all relevant training and qualifications if wishing to develop into a band 3 role.
Band 3 requirements - Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 or GCSE equivalent (A-C/ 4-9), Care certificate, Level 3 vocational qualification, or Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties and/or Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3:
1. Theoretical knowledge
2. Experience of a range of care and related procedures
3. Clinical observations
4. Knowledge of relevant legislation
There is a clear framework to allow for postholders to develop from a band 2 to band 3 and this includes completion of the qualifications.
Main duties of the job
To be an active member of the multidisciplinary team demonstrating a range of nursing skills to meet the needs of the patient in a safe, caring environment that promotes dignity, privacy and respect under appropriate supervision of registered nurses. The post holder will be expected to develop knowledge and skills within the specialty and will assist in the management and delivery of compassionate, high-quality patient care. The post holder will work with nursing assistants, clerical support and support the training of student nurses and volunteers.
Demonstrates the Trust Values and Behaviours and the Trust Code of Conduct and the nursing and midwifery 6C's at all times acting in the best interests of patients and treating everyone with dignity and respect. The post holder has a duty of care to patients and is expected to comply fully with all Trust policies in particular policies relating to personal and patient safety and the prevention of healthcare associated infections.
