Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Procurement Manager to join our team. An excellent opportunity to join a market leading, family-owned manufacturing business which has been trading for 60 years has arisen in a new and exciting role.
This is a busy position and would suit a person with substantial experience in a similar role; therefore, we are asking for at least 5 years’ relevant experience.
As the Company’s Procurement Manager, you will ensure cost-effective and timely procurement of direct raw materials, equipment, and services while maintaining quality standards. Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, you will play a key role in optimising our supply chain and building strategic supplier relationships.
Key Attributes will include:
Essential
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a purchasing role
* Deep understanding of the procurement function and supply chain dynamics
* Budgeting and organisational skills working with accuracy and attention to detail
* Strong negotiation, communication, and organisational skills
* Excellent attention to detail
* Good IT skills, including experience with Excel
Desirable
* Knowledge of industry-specific materials and equipment or qualifications in supply chain management/procurement
Key Responsibilities:
* Purchasing Management: Source and negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, terms, and timely deliveries
* Supplier Relationships: Build and maintain strong partnerships with key suppliers
* Market Analysis: Evaluate market conditions to control stock levels and storage locations whilst controlling costs
* Inventory Optimisation: Monitor stock levels and forecast requirements effectively and investigate stock discrepancies
* Cost Control: Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality
* Compliance: Ensure all procurement activities adhere to company policies and industry standards
* Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams to meet project needs
* Tank Control: Establishing/maintaining system for control of suppliers’ returnable tanks/IBCs/pallets
* Projecting and purchasing for major contracts based on sales forecasts and history
* Manage procurement and stock processes, including ordering, receiving, storage, issuing, and traceability of all direct materials
* Managing Utility/Service Renewals
* Record Management: Ensuring supplier records, component/raw material records, and database is maintained and up to date
Key Information
This is a full-time, permanent position.
Hours of Work: 8.30 am – 5 pm Monday to Thursday and 7.30 am - 4.30 pm on Fridays. Flexibility on hours could be considered.
Salary: £40,000+
Holidays: 30 days, rising to 32 days after 1 years’ employment
