Cell Leader (Cleanroom)
We are currently looking for a Cell Leader Cleanroom for a precision engineering company in Hailsham. The main purpose of this role is to ensure the cell meets day-to-day customer requirements in terms of Quality, Delivery, and Cost, while continuously improving team performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Support and lead the team, providing motivation when required to maintain workflow.
Ensure that standard work, one-piece flow, and other cellular principles are upheld.
Proactively address customer requirements by identifying and resolving abnormalities that may disrupt workflow, while regularly checking for cycle time adherence.
Monitor and manage the team’s attendance, work rate, and general attitude, both on an individual and team basis.
Act as a Cell Technician when required.
Contribute to daily team meetings using the SQDIP performance board to communicate relevant performance indicators, targets, and necessary countermeasures.
Maintain all visual management systems, including standard work documentation, QDIP board, production target board, and the cell team board.
Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and update the production target board accordingly.
Contribute to and drive the team’s improvement agenda with respect to CI, problem-solving, Kaizen, 5S, and engineering changes. Communicate these efforts to the team.
Ensure all manufacturing systems, documentation, labeling, training, SPC, etc., are kept up-to-date.
Serve as the first point of contact for team members regarding any issues.
Coordinate cross-training of team members in various work sequence skills and update the Training Matrix as needed.
Ensure accurate and timely AX transactions (back-flushing, scrap, rework, job completion).
Assist the Production Manager in ensuring that the team works to the correct TAKT time, with the appropriate staffing and standard work splits according to customer demand.
Ensure smooth daily start-up/changeover, including machine setup, staff allocations, WIP, and material replenishment.
Work with the Production Manager to implement company policies and procedures.
Promote a 5S environment and ensure cleaning and TPM schedule activities are completed daily, weekly, and monthly.
Ensure all work orders are completed correctly and on time.
Work with the production engineering team when required. Essential Skills & Experience:
Experience in high-level mechanical assembly.
Leadership and coaching experience.
Strong mathematical skills. Desirable Skills & Experience:
Experience in a low-batch, low-tolerance workshop environment. Desirable Qualifications:
HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering. Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week with a 12 pm Friday finish. Please note: the successful candidate will need to drive due to the location.
