TEACHING ASSISTANT – LEVEL 3

Role Overview: St Woolos Primary School is seeking a dedicated and motivated Teaching Assistant (Level 3) to support our vibrant school community in nurturing the academic and personal growth of our children. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting our school values of Be Kind, Be Fair, Be Curious, and Be Aspirational, ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive. We are looking for a highly motivated, flexible and well qualified individual to become a key member of the school team. The role will involve working with our teaching staff and members of the School Leadership Team in order to provide the very best learning for our children.
Main Responsibilities:
• Support individuals and groups of pupils, using your specialist skills, training, and experience, to provide high-quality learning experiences.
• Provide unplanned cover for the class when needed.
• Plan, deliver, and evaluate engaging learning experiences for young learners both indoors and outdoors.
• Contribute to the planning and assessment processes alongside the teaching team, ensuring the effective development of the children.
• Occasionally supervise whole classes during short-term absences of the class teacher.
• Support children in developing their basic skills in Literacy and Numeracy, helping to build their foundation for future learning.
• Promote creativity in the learning environment, ensuring children are engaged in purposeful play and exploration that supports their overall development.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff, the School Leadership Team, and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for all children.
• Foster positive relationships with children, providing a supportive and nurturing environment that promotes confidence and self-esteem.
Key Personal Specifications:
• Qualifications: Level 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification desirable.
• Experience: Proven experience working in a school setting, ideally within the Foundation Phase or Early Years education.
• Skills: Strong understanding of how young children learn, with proven experience in delivering high-quality play-based learning both indoors and outdoors.
• Numeracy & Literacy: Excellent Numeracy and Literacy skills to support early readers, writers, and mathematicians.
• Approach: Patience, understanding, and a caring attitude are essential. You should be committed to building positive relationships with children, fostering a supportive and nurturing environment.
• Teamwork & Initiative: You must be a team player who can also work independently, plan your time effectively, and show initiative in your role.
• Commitment to Development: Passionate about how children learn and eager to inspire and engage our younger learners to reach their potential.
Additional Information:
• Holidays must be taken during school closure periods.
• This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
