Role Description
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Cabinet Maker to join our team in Dalkeith. This role not only involves hands-on cabinet making but also includes supervisory responsibilities within our joinery workshop. You will be responsible for performing manual tasks such as shaping and assembling bespoke fitted and stand-alone wood furniture, following technical drawings and specifications. Youll work alongside a team of experienced joiners, helping ensure projects are completed to the highest standards.
As a Workshop Supervisor, you will also be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations within the workshop. This includes coordinating workflow, maintaining production schedules, supporting quality control, and ensuring a safe and productive work environment. Youll be expected to lead by example, assist with training and mentoring junior team members, and work closely with management to meet deadlines and uphold our craftsmanship standards. Spindle molding experience would also be ideal for this role.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Cabinet Maker
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques and woodworking principles
Familiarity with woodworking machinery and hand tools
Excellent attention to detail and quality control
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Ideally 5+ years experience in a joinery workshop
Previous experience in a supervisory or team lead role is highly desirable
Supervisory Responsibilities
Oversee workshop staff and coordinate daily workloads
Ensure projects meet quality, safety, and deadline expectations
Monitor materials, tools, and equipment to ensure smooth operations
Provide support and training to less experienced joiners
Maintain clear communication between team and management
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in workshop processes
