Job summary An exciting 6 month secondment opportunity has arisen for a Pelvic Health Physiotherapist to join our Women's and Children's Physiotherapy Service in the Family Care Division due to maternity leave. Having gained experience of core clinical areas this post will provide you with opportunities to further develop your practice within the field of pelvic health. The post holder will assess and treat MSk obstetric out-patients with occasional ward cover (maternity wards at Royal Bolton Hospital), and a gynaecology / urology caseload as skills are developed. The post holder will be based at Royal Bolton Hospital but will also be required to work in the community setting. Working within multidisciplinary teams you will be given the chance to enhance your clinical skills, contribute to student education, participate in the delivery of department-wide training and develop supervisory skills of junior staff. Support and supervision will be offered by the Band 7 Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist and Team Leader. We are looking for keen, enthusiastic, innovative and flexible physiotherapists who are eager to develop and build on existing skills. Main duties of the job To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients in your care. To assess and treat obstetric / gynaecology / urology patients within the Pelvic Health Physiotherapy Team, in a variety of settings, having gained valid informed consent for a diverse and complex range of pathologies. To use clinical reasoning and problem solving skills and manual assessment techniques to provide an accurate diagnosis of a patient's condition and to formulate a specialised programme of care and comprehensive discharge plan. To provide health promotion advice to patients. To give an accurate prognosis and use a wide range of therapeutic techniques and advanced skills to deliver individual physiotherapy treatment programmes having agreed physiotherapy goals with patients and carers. To review and reflect on own practice and performance through effective use of professional and operational supervision, appraisal and peer review. To provide spontaneous and planned advice, teaching and instruction to relatives, carers and other professionals, to promote understanding of the aims of physiotherapy, and to ensure consistent approach to patient care. To give advice and training on safe handling techniques and treatment programmes to patients, carers and other health and social care professionals as appropriate to ensure provision of good patient care.
