We’re looking for two SHEQ Managers who can showcase their experience in an exciting and diverse business. Is that you? We’re Lagan Aviation & Infrastructure, a leader in the construction and maintenance of airport and military infrastructure worldwide. As a Health and Safety Manager, you’ll be responsible for leading health, safety, and environmental efforts across our projects at RAF Waddington, RAF Valley and Edinburgh Airport. You will be a key figure in driving the safety and sustainability culture and strategy, ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation, and promoting a strong culture of sustainability.
Working closely with the Project Director, the onsite team and our JV partners you will provide expert advice, support, and guidance on health, safety, and environmental matters, ensuring that the projects adhere to VVB’s policies and industry standards.
With over 30 years of experience in over twenty countries we are the specialists in the delivery of airside and landside aviation projects for the Military and Civil Aviation Sectors.
We operate across all major airports in the UK and Ireland, including logistically challenging regional airports such as those in the Highlands & Islands of Scotland and the Channel Islands. Globally, we have successfully delivered projects in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean.
We’re also a key delivery partner to the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), providing support to the UK Armed Forces at Ministry of Defence (MOD) bases throughout the UK and overseas.
What you’ll do
As an experienced SHEQ Manager, we’ll provide you with the support you need to develop your full potential for an exciting and rewarding career with us. The focus of your role will include supporting and assisting the SHEQ Lead in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of an overarching health, safety, and environmental strategy. You will also be pivotal in the production of all health, safety and environmental data for the project(s) which will be used by the business to measure the success of the strategy.
The SHEQ Manager will play a key role in helping to establish and maintain the highest health and safety standards for the project. The role will involve regular liaison and collaboration with the site project team and other health and safety colleagues across the business.
There are 2 roles. 1 is initially based onsite at RAF Valley (then upon completion of that project, moves to Edinburgh Airport) The other is based at RAF Waddington. Both roles may require travel to other project sites as necessary.
What you’ll bring
* A background in Civil Engineering and/or related Civils is desirable
* Relevant qualification and/or experience in Health & Safety at Degree/Diploma/HNC/HND level
* Working towards or achieved IOSH Chartered status
* Experience of working on aviation infrastructure and/or major construction projects, nationally and internationally (desirable)
* Ambition and commitment to succeed in the role
* Demonstrable self-motivation and high personal professional standards.
* Confident, well-developed communication skills
* Experience of writing policies and procedures, protocols, reports, standards and risk assessments
* Right to Work and live in the UK. There may be opportunities to work overseas too.
* In addition, you will be able to demonstrate knowledge of and experience in effective and ongoing communication through supporting project health and safety activities as appropriate and acting as a role model for other colleagues internally (and where appropriate, externally) providing coaching and development as necessary.
* Ability to manage projects within budget and time constraints with an awareness of dispute resolution including options, structure, techniques, experts etc.
