THE OPPORTUNITY
The Private Client Investment Managing Director would be an integral leadership position within Cambridge Associates’ rapidly growing Private Client Practice with a focus on expanding private client and institutional business in French speaking regions of Europe.
Investment Directors in the Private Client Practice are part of a team who services more than 200 private families advising on both taxable and charitable assets. Our clients range in asset size from ~$100 million to more than $10 billion and are located in over 35 countries worldwide. Investment Directors work with colleagues to help clients meet or exceed their investment objectives and enhance the long-term investment performance of their portfolios. The Managing Director would be responsible for leading and co-leading client relationships (both discretionary and non-discretionary) interacting directly with key decision makers (family members, Board or IC members, Family Office or Investment Office staff and outside advisors), driving investment strategy, asset allocation structures, investment manager structures and guidelines, investment manager selection and evaluation, and performance monitoring. The Managing Director is also responsible for the management and development of the supporting investment team.
In addition to their work with existing clients, Investment Directors partner with Global Client Solutions and the Private Client Practice leadership teams to pursue new private client relationships. Investment Director responsibilities regarding new business development include building referral networks through strong work with existing clients and related outside advisors, partnering with business development professionals to qualify prospective clients, building presentation materials and leading presentations alongside team members.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Build Cambridge Associates network with key influencers across the private client and institutional investor marketplace in French speaking regions of Europe.
2. Represent Cambridge Associates externally through marketing presentations, conferences and other business development opportunities.
3. Work with leadership and marketing groups to shape and grow Cambridge Associates Brand in Europe.
4. Lead teams in creating and developing diversified portfolios to meet customized client objectives.
5. Lead teams that select and evaluate investment managers for all asset classes, including long only equity, liability hedging, and alternative asset classes such as long short equity funds, absolute return hedge funds, real estate, timberland, venture capital, private equity, and oil & gas.
6. Conduct analyses, prepare materials and direct clients on investment and financial issues.
7. Work with and present directly to clients; develop relationships with clients and outside advisors.
8. Select and evaluate investment managers for virtually all asset classes.
9. Develop and implement investment objectives, policies, and asset allocations for complex trust structures.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. BA/BS required. An MBA or CFA strongly preferred.
2. Extensive investment experience.
3. Appropriate investment knowledge and experience, gained from work at an investment firm or a large institutional investor or family office.
4. Well-developed network in the family office community.
5. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
6. Ability to speak at family office conferences.
7. Fluency in French and English mandatory.
