Description As а buyer you have a crucial role in the organisation and manage procurement activities and supplier relationships. You ensure that all goods, supplies, and inventory needed for the business to operate are ordered and kept in stock, as well as control inventory levels, quality and costs associated with purchasing these items. You will be responsible for: Order placement and expediting of Purchase orders in the ERP system. Managing direct material inventory levels. Drive reduction in direct material inventory through forecasting, material re-application, redistribution, ABC analysis and EO planning. Developing and implementing purchasing strategies that align with the company’s business goals and operational needs. Analysing market trends and supplier performance to identify cost savings opportunities and optimise the supply chain. Maintaining/improving an efficient material flow, ensuring quality, delivery and cost targets are met. Implementing risk management strategies to mitigate potential supply chain disruptions, including diversifying the supplier base and maintaining safety stock levels. Maintaining and improving the accuracy of master data in the ERP system, including safety stock, Kanban bin sizes, and lead times. Negotiating and maintain supply contracts, including pricing, buffer stock levels and TCs. Assisting and develop risk mitigation techniques, including credit rating and change of ownership, to preserve supply. Identifying, establishing, and consolidating vendors in the supply chain. Supporting cross-function projects, including kaizen events. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, such as engineering, NPI, production, quality assurance, and finance, to meet product specifications and resolve supply issues. Experience, Skills, and Knowledge required to be successful in the role: Technical Skills/Knowledge Knowledge of working in a manufacturing environment Electronics and metalwork sourcing knowledge Manufacturing quality Low-cost region sourcing knowledge. Working knowledge of ERP systems Vendor and contract management Comprehensive understanding of MS Office packages Knowledge of problem-solving and continuous improvements CIPS qualification advantageous but not essential Transferable soft skills Strong customer and solution focused. Effective planning and organisational skills Ability to work with a wide range of people at varying levels across the organisation. Impeccable attention to detail Conflict management and managing challenging relationships.
