Then please read on … The Service Watcombe Circus is a registered care home which runs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to support our service users. We provide person-centred care and support 11 service users with moderate learning disabilities, physical disabilities, communication needs and complex healthcare related needs. The Role As a Support Worker, your role will involve helping service users to live as independently as possible. An average day will involve helping our residents to cook and clean, helping them maintain their personal hygiene (which includes providing personal care), supporting them to spend time in their community and to participate in leisure activities. The role requires you to be creative to help enrich the lives of our residents, and being a calm, resilient person who is able to deescalate situations related to challenging behaviour. You will also be required to help with day-to-day needs of the service users such as shopping, appointments, finances, medication and meal preparation. Please note that due to the needs of our service users, there may be elements of moving & handling and risk management involved in the role; as such, you will need to be willing and able to undertake these duties. This role is extremely rewarding, so by the end of your shift, you will have a huge sense of achievement and a warm heart. What we are looking for The ideal candidate is looking for shift work and not a 9 to 5 role. Residents are at the heart of everything we do, so we want someone who is friendly, resilient and is enthusiastic about protecting the human rights of individuals. They will be open and supportive to the needs of others and willing to go the extra mile for our service users. We are looking for individuals who are organised, approachable, patient and flexible. Empathy and compassion whilst being able to demonstrate a robust and safe approach to managing risk positively is key in this role. Although the role can be challenging at times, the training and support we provide will ensure that you are well equipped and confident to hit the ground running.
