Turning Point support individualsacross the country and we are currently recruiting support workersfor supported living locations across Cheltenham in Woodmancote andHatherley.
Where will I beworking?
You will be working atone of our supported living services in Cheltenham – GL51 orGL52. We offer 24 hour support to people with LD (learningdisabilities) and Autism. The level of care required will varyacross our services. Some of the people we support have a profoundand multiple learning disability and complex health needs othersneed assistance with daily activities, personal care,medication and mobility as well as daily livingtasks.
We endeavour to create positive familyrelationships offering a good circle of support. There is a strongfocus on supporting individuals' lives in a person centred waywhich includes various activities, shopping, managing own budgetsand cooking. We tailor our services to enable people to be asindependent as possible.
ShiftPatterns
This is a 24 hourservice, therefore flexibility is essential. You will be working arange of shifts from 7:30 am to 2:30 pm and 2:00 pm to9:30 pm, floating shifts during the day and someweekends. You will need to work every second weekend.
Please note that weekend work ismandatory.
RoleResponsibility
What will I bedoing?
This is a hands-onjob in which no two days are the same. Your duties willinclude:
* promoting the independenceof people we support
* supporting a full rangeof daily activities including cleaning and cooking, days out orgoing away on holiday
* arranging activities inthe home and in the local community
* developingresidents' life skills and personal interests
* helping residents stay safe and healthy
* assisting with personal care needs
* manual handling
* supporting peoplewith medication
* ensuring record keepingis maintained to the required standard at all times andcontributing to service monitoring requirements.
The Ideal Candidate
What skills and qualities do I need tohave?
Whilst knowledge oflearning disabilities and complex needs would be beneficial, itisn't essential. What is essential is that you are:
* passionate, caring and enthusiastic
* flexible, patient and non-judgemental
* a great team player with lots of energy
* able to demonstrate good communication skills
* able to complete the physical aspects of the role such asmanual handling where needed
* transferableexperience of helping people to manage anxiety
Having a driving licence isnecessary.
