As a General Supply Teacher, you will step into the classroom to provide high-quality teaching in the absence of the regular class teacher. You will deliver engaging lessons across a range of subjects according to secondary school key stages, maintain classroom discipline, and ensure that students remain on task with their learning activities. As a General Supply Teacher, what you’re expected to do: Deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects to secondary school students. Adapt to the needs of each class, maintaining a positive and productive learning environment. Provide support and guidance to students during lessons, ensuring their understanding of the material. Manage classroom behaviour effectively, following school policies and procedures. Collaborate with other staff to ensure the smooth running of the school day. Mark and assess work as required and provide feedback to the regular teacher. Build strong relationships with students and contribute to their academic, social, and emotional development. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the curriculum and provide support in meeting learning objectives. Be proactive and flexible in taking on a variety of assignments across schools. General Supply Teacher Job Requirements: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualifications. Experience teaching in secondary schools or in a similar role. Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate students. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Adaptability and a willingness to teach across various subjects and year groups. A commitment to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment. A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices. An enhanced DBS registered on the update service or willing to apply for one.
