Job overview
We are looking for a dynamic & enthusiastic individual to join our team in North East Essex within the field of Physiotherapy. We are looking for an experienced band 5 who is ready to transition into a rotational band 6 post or established Band 6's looking for a new challenge.
The current rotations in North East Essex consist of Critical Care, Acute Respiratory Care Unit, Surgical Wards, Medical Respiratory adult & Paediatric, Oncology, General Medical wards, Elderly wards, Emergency Medicine, Stroke Unit, Trauma Orthopaedics, and the new Elective Orthopaedic Centre at Colchester Hospital, along with community rotations in Neuro rehabilitation, MSK outpatients, Community hospitals & Community Respiratory.
Staff are expected to participate in 7-day working & work on the inpatient respiratory on-call rota.
We are an Integrated Therapy team with Physiotherapists & Occupational Therapists working closely in integrated teams to provide excellent & rapid assessment & discharge planning to our clients.
You will need to have experience in discharge planning & skills in identification of needs for adaptive equipment.
Band 5 to 6 development roles will be considered for those requiring additional support for the first 6 months, provided they have completed an NHS preceptorship scheme at Band 5.
Car drivers are preferred, due to the community nature of several of the rotations.
Main duties of the job
You will complete a competency framework to enable participation in the annual Band 6 rotational scheme. This includes rapid assessment, facilitating discharge, specialist rehabilitation, falls prevention & specialist inpatient services in Critical Care, Stroke & Neurology & Respiratory care.
You will be expected to perform safe, evidence-based physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations & complex physical & psychological conditions & deliver an individualised treatment programme from a range of options.
You'll undertake comprehensive assessments of patients, including those with diverse or complex presentations, using clinical reasoning skills & manual assessment techniques to assist in diagnosis & choose from a range of treatment options to achieve the desired goal. To formulate treatment plans & recommend the best course of intervention, considering patients’ personal goals & objectives, to develop comprehensive discharge plans.
You will be responsible for your own caseload & for a defined area of the service, initially with supervision of senior staff then progressing towards working without direct supervision. Supervision involves regular formal training & clinical reasoning sessions, peer review & one-to-one assessments.
You'll be professionally & legally accountable for all aspects of your own work, including issues around consent and capacity.
To manage clinical risk within your own patient caseload.

Person specification
Qualifications
* BSc / MSc Physiotherapy
* HCPC Registered Physiotherapist
* Completion of an appropriate leadership course
* Completion of an approved University Clinical education course
* Membership of CSP
* Completion of an NHS Trust preceptorship program
Experience
* Wide range of rotational experience at Band 5 to include core areas - respiratory, ward management, Ortho / MSK and neuro/community
* Evidence of working with and delegating to assistants / technicians
* Experience of working on a Respiratory On-call list
* Experience of supervising students clinically.
* NHS experience as a Band 5 Physiotherapist
Knowledge
* Evidence of ongoing CPD relevant to the role.
* Evidence of Teaching / leading of IST to other staff
* Knowledge of local community services and discharge pathways
* Examples of application of current evidence-based practice and critical appraisal
