Reporting to the Managing Director, and with an indirect reporting line to the Regional Finance Director, you will lead an efficient and cost-effective Divisional Finance operation, provide financial advice to the MD and the Management Team, and contribute fully in that team on wider business issues. Drive the financial agenda whilst ensuring appropriate checks and balances are in place and maintained to support the growth and achievement of business success.
You will be expected to:
1. Ensure the Finance team is fully resourced and well-directed, with clear guidelines to their own job responsibilities, and are provided with full support in achieving these, in terms of communication, training and development, and the organisation of the department's workload.
2. Input into feasibility modelling and support the development of rolling growth plans through financial forecasting and planning.
3. Complete accurate and robust forecasting and planning in line with Regional requirements.
4. Identify and ensure the resolution of issues that have significant impact on the Division.
5. Take responsibility for all financial management and reporting.
6. Ensure adherence with the Group Accounts Manual regarding Cash Management; operate and control all activities within the cash budgets.
7. Manage payment processing to ensure an accurate and timely service, using the Group systems.
8. Develop and take lead responsibility for key processes/recovery actions for business continuity (disaster recovery); ensure adequate planning and testing.
9. Ensure the implementation and use of Group IT systems in line with Group policy.
10. Take responsibility for Administration and Office Services (in the absence of an Office Manager).
11. Ensure Division complies with all relevant legislation, regulations and statutory guidelines, including Health and Safety obligations.
12. Appropriately report to the MD and Divisional Board in line with the standard format and schedule.
13. Promote and act in accordance with Group values, systems, policies and procedures.
What you'll need
To be successful in the role, we are looking for:
1. A professionally qualified accountant with considerable post-qualification experience in a senior commercial accounting role, ideally within the house-building sector.
2. A highly numerate individual with strong IT and financial analysis skills, coupled with the ability to interpret data and assess impacts on the business.
3. Experience of managing budgets/cost control, and planning and organising work to meet targets.
4. Ability and willingness to contribute a professional opinion to the overall management of the business.
5. Self-confidence, decisiveness, resilience and ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
6. A motivational team leader focused on managing, coaching and developing the team to achieve their full potential.
