An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the existing ward leadership on ward 20. We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Nurse to work within the new Respiratory Support Unit, providing direction and inspirational leadership to the nursing and multi-disciplinary team. You will be joining an established and exceptional team within the RRCV CMG. Main duties of the job
The post holder will need to be an expert clinical practitioner with respiratory high dependency experience. Having knowledge and understanding of emergency respiratory admissions and pressures of managing high acuity patient-centered care and managing flow in prioritizing workload would be advantageous. The patients that we care for require varying respiratory support. Further responsibilities include the provision of a supportive learning environment for continuing education of the junior team members reporting to the Senior Sister and supporting her in the day-to-day management of the ward in her absence.
Job responsibilities
* Take 24-hour accountability and responsibility for the given area.
* Be visible, accessible, and responsive to the needs of service users, patients, carers, and the public.
* Provide direction and effective and inspirational leadership to the nursing and multi-disciplinary team (including ancillary and clinical support staff) within the area for which they are accountable.
* Act as an expert clinical practitioner providing through themselves and their ward team an excellent quality of care to patients and service users.
* Act as a clinical and managerial role model within the ward team, CMG, and across the wider organisation.
* Take responsibility for the provision of a supportive learning environment for all students on placement within the ward/unit for which they are responsible.
* Practise clinically in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for a defined caseload. This will determine that the Ward/Unit Manager is ward-based and practises clinically at least 50% of their working time.
Person Specification
Clinical skills and knowledge
* Demonstrates a high level of clinical competence and expertise in advanced respiratory care.
* Good understanding of clinical governance and application to quality and safety.
Experience
* Previous leadership at ward level at band 6.
* Evidence of quality improvement change.
* Previous experience at band 7 in a relevant leadership role.
Education and qualification
* RN - adult at degree level/teaching and assessing qualification/post-registration education relevant to specialty.
* Masters degree/clinical leadership programme/audit and research skills.
* Evidence of recent post-registration professional development.
* Participates in formal and informal teaching.
* Involved in quality improvement development.
Leadership and education
* Dynamic individual, able to challenge constructively and lead a team.
* Good communicator, to act as a clinical role model for all the MDT learners within the ward.
* Computer literacy in relevant applications.
