Consultant in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery
Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust
The service is currently implementing a comprehensive redevelopment plan, with a view to significant expansion of staff and facilities to meet the growing needs of our population. We are the only service to our knowledge who directly employ a consultant perioperative physician within the department, to optimise care of medical conditions for both our in and outpatients before and after interventions. There is a brand-new purpose-built £6 million academic diabetes centre housing the academic unit and the diabetic foot service. A £16 million investment in PET CT technology including on site cyclotrons for research and clinical use has been made, making Hull one of only two sites in the UK with this imaging capability. A new development is planned to locate the service at the Castle Hill site, with a new Hybrid theatre suite, IR room, ward and vascular lab facilities within the next few years.
Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen to apply for a consultant post within a high volume, high quality Vascular service to replace a retired colleague. This post will complement the eleven (full and part time) surgeons, nine vascular interventional radiologists and one perioperative vascular physician working in the department in Hull. Our department enjoys an excellent working relationship between surgical and endovascular consultants and has a very strong track history in education, training and research. There are fantastic opportunities for practice development with experienced mentors at hand.
