As a Senior Building Surveyor, you will share in Templer HomeBuild’s passion for people and buildings. We are looking for a genuine people leader to support a small team of 3 Building Surveyors and 1 Administrator to deliver our organisation's promise - to maintain quality, safe and sustainable homes.
We are seeking an individual with strong leadership, planning, organising, and problem-solving skills. You will be knowledgeable of Building Regulations, Housing Standards, and CDM and have proven leadership experience. This may not be in the capacity of a Building Surveyor; perhaps you have been a Contracts Manager or even a Project Manager. We are open to any transferable job titles and experience/sector background - most importantly, you will have people leadership experience. This is a fantastic role with the opportunity to add real value, make a role your own, and support the development of a promising Housing Asset function.

The Building Surveyor Manager / Senior Building Surveyor role:
You will immerse yourself in our core aims, best practice principles, and your team's key job responsibilities to create ‘fit for purpose’ processes and procedures to deliver a comprehensive surveying service that meets our needs and those of our residents.
* Manage, develop, and lead your team ensuring their work and professional development and training is aligned with their personal goals and those of the business.
* Engage with Teign Housing, Residents & Stakeholders to understand and manage a wide range of complex housing survey needs. Provide professional advice and guidance while acknowledging practical and cost-effective solutions.
* Balance what needs to be done with commercial awareness and a ‘value for money’ approach.
* Work closely with the commercial & operational teams to ensure alignment of objectives to deliver consistent quality and value for money.
* Oversee and manage the technical and regulatory aspects of works – including scoping, specifications, inspections, audits, and contractor performance.
What will you bring as a Building Surveyor Manager/ Senior Building Surveyor?
* Proven people management experience ideally from within the housing maintenance or refurbishment industry, or other transferable backgrounds that enable great people management experience and excellent building fabrication knowledge.
* Ability to motivate, coach, and mentor a high-performing team - leadership & people development experience is important.
* Good technical writing skills.
* Ability to build positive relationships with Teign Housing, Residents & Stakeholders to ensure their sometimes-conflicting priorities are managed to deliver the best outcome possible. Excellent communication skills are a must.
