Divisional Director - Medlock Partners (Specialist in Senior Finance Appointments)
Role: Financial Accountant (Perfect 1st/2nd time move from practice)
Location: Wigan
Summary:
Medlock Partners are delighted to be exclusively our client, a large specialist market leading organisation based in the Lancashire area as they look to appoint an ambitious Financial Accountant following a recent restructure.
Reporting directly into the Financial Controller, the Financial Accountant will take full responsibility for the financial reporting activities for the site, implementing and ensuring robust financial controls and supporting the wider business.
Responsibilities:
1. Month and year end accruals and prepayments preparation and reconciliation in accordance with the Group reporting schedule.
2. Ensuring accounting entries are compliant with local GAAP (FRS102) and an appreciation of topside IFRS adjustments.
3. Understanding of Group accounting and taxation (intercompany postings and transfer rules, group structures and reliefs).
4. Quarterly VAT calculation and submissions, annual Corporation tax calculation and submissions and reliefs available for Group entities.
5. Participation in annual audit and the associated planning cycle for Group entities, preparing the necessary documentation and support.
6. Having an informed opinion on the treatment of non-standard transactions according to local GAAP.
7. Liaising with auditors, bank, Inland Revenue and accounting advisors in the course of business activities.
8. High involvement in the preparation of Statutory accounts.
Key Requirements:
1. Month end close activities executed to deadlines and reporting schedules.
2. Current knowledge of relevant accounting GAAP.
3. Working knowledge of intercompany transactions, reconciliations, types of LE’s and UK reliefs.
4. Ability to submit relevant tax and statutory filings on time.
5. Aware of the types of support and relevance of audit queries, ability to challenge on certain requests and solid knowledge of legislative requirements and correct treatments in the accounts.
6. Can prepare a set of Statutory Accounts unaided or with little support.
7. Understanding of local tax law and legislation.
The ideal candidate will be a technically competent, ideally ACA/ACCA qualified finance professional who can demonstrate a passion for implementing strong financial controls and working towards strict deadlines in line with company guidelines and procedures.
The successful candidate will enjoy full autonomy in their position however, will also benefit from a group structure and be in a unique position that blends independence with valuable resources and support from the wider business.
