Estimating Engineer
The successful candidate will have estimating experience from the piling, foundations and ground engineering, geotechnical sectors. This position is hybrid working (1day per week in the South Yorkshire office and the remainder working from home).

Due to continued expansion, an abundant pipeline of works, and the recent award of a number of long-term major contracts, our client is now looking to appoint an individual who has experience of pricing piling projects and scopes of work. The successful candidate must be able to review enquiry documentations to determine the key considerations associated with the piling works. Our client seeks high calibre candidates with ambition, enthusiasm and drive to make an impact. You must have strong technical acumen coupled with a positive interest in engineering and geology. You will also have a professional approach and a keen eye for detail; excellent communication and IT skills are also vital for the role. This role is suitable for an individual with experience across the ground engineering industry including piling contractors and site investigation.
The Role
* To successfully contribute to the build-up and submission of estimates and tender proposals for geotechnical, piling and ground engineering projects
* To produce competitive and creative bids for a wide variety of piling schemes, all in response to client demands and key drivers
* You will work in a close knit team responsible at all stages for aspects relating to the budgets, costing and financial elements of technically complex, client focused schedules
* Co-ordinate the financial and cost process in overall terms, and work closely with the client, employer’s representatives and legislative bodies
* Co-ordinate bids in line with client design requirements to ensure that the submission, information flow and progress achieve all necessary deadlines
* Pursue existing clients and new customer contacts to assist in the procurement of work winning and potential future work opportunity
* To work closely with the Directors, Managers, and other members of the team to ensure that the company position is maintained at the highest potential level
* Develop accurate and timely proposals to submit competitive bids for the company’s client base
* Analyse and interpret detailed client requests, designs, drawings and specifications
* Determine and value engineer alternatives to offer truly bespoke specifications
* Utilising all aspects of your expertise to submit tailored proposals to clients
* Attend pre and post bid meetings with clients and their representatives
* Work under deadline pressures in an efficient, compose and calm manner
The Person
* You must be eligible to work in the UK with a valid work permit
* Experience of undertaking pile estimates using appropriate software packages
* Experience of pricing piling enquiries
* Ability to work in isolation sometimes and to communicate complex technical matters simply and clearly both in writing and verbally
* Enthusiasm and results focussed, with an ability to work well under pressure and to challenging or stringent deadlines
* Effective negotiation skills with both internal and external clients and teams
