Job Title: Precision Cylindrical Grinder Location: Aintree, Liverpool Salary: £16.63-£17.77/hour (approx. £34k-£36k per year) Potential Earnings with Overtime: £45k-£48k Hours: 39 hours/week overtime (subject to availability) Shift: Monday-Thursday 7:30-16:30, Friday 7:30-12:30 About the Role Total Staff is recruiting on behalf of a leading engineering company for a skilled Precision Cylindrical Grinder to join their Precision Pump Shaft Cell. This role involves rough and finish grinding pump shafts up to 4 meters in length using manual cylindrical grinders, working with high-grade materials such as steel, stainless steel, and exotic alloys. Key responsibilities include: Working from precision engineering drawings to achieve exact specifications. Grinding shafts for multi-stage pumps, ensuring high accuracy and quality. Using steadies to support long components during the grinding process. Maintaining adherence to ISO 9001:2015 Quality Systems.Requirements Essential: Time-served engineer (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent). Experience grinding precision pump shafts up to 4 meters. Ability to interpret detailed engineering drawings. Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 standards. Experience working with exotic metals (e.g., Duplex, Hastelloy, Monel). Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.Desirable (but not essential): Experience finish-grinding multi-stage pump shafts.
