Position Description: This position provides environmental, health and safety expertise to our manufacturing facilities in Birmingham. The role holder is accountable for identifying and managing environmental aspects, energy aspects and health and safety hazards; assuring accurate and complete EHS reporting of metrics; assuring that EHS self-assessments are thoroughly completed on a timely basis; completion of required training; managing interfaces with governmental authorities. Some of the responsibilities of the EHS&E Manager include, but are not limited to the following: Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop an annual HSE strategic plan, aligning goals and initiatives with corporate objectives. Serve as ISO 14001, ISO 50001 and ISO 45001 Lead Management Representative and participate with all required management system audits Prepare for and assist with external audits from regulatory and certification bodies, ensuring the company meets HSE compliance standards, customer and other regulatory requirements and standards. Conduct internal safety audits and ensure compliance with regulatory and company safety policies Review and update risk assessments, policies and SOPs for various activities or processes, ensuring they align with the latest safety standards. Lead incident investigations, implementing corrective actions as indicated. Oversee and act on urgent safety and environmental hazards or incident (near-miss, injury, etc.) investigations, including conducting interviews, doing research, generating corrective actions and monitoring to ensure elimination/reduction of repeat incidents. Prepare and submit safety performance reports, including key metrics like incident rates, hazard identifications, and environmental compliance in line with the reporting cadence Inspection of safety equipment and ensure that safety-critical equipment undergoes scheduled maintenance and checks Collaborate with HR to coordinate comprehensive safety training and refresher courses for all staff. Champion and support programs and initiatives for EHS systems, processes and activities designed to raise awareness and reduce risks to ensure safety of employees. Promote awareness of and compliance to EHS policies and regulatory standards through a variety of communication methods, e.g. bulletin board postings, trainings, periodic EHS events, webinars, meetings, etc. Track, report and analyze EHS-related KPIs. Share trends and suggestions with plant management to pro-actively correct and/or improve EHS performance. Record energy monitoring for the plant and share with the management team Qualifications: Education and/or Experience Experience or working knowledge of ISO14001, and ISO 45001 essential knowledge of ISO50001 is desirable IOSH Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health Leadership and Management desirable IOSH Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health Principles and Practice Skills and Abilities Ability to work without direct day-to-day supervision and capable of managing/leading EHS function activities. Strong organizational skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, communication and interpersonal skills. Must have demonstrated follow-up and closure skills. Excellent leadership and managerial skills required and proactive forward-thinking abilities. Must be able to successfully manage multiple activities and prioritize workload.
