Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy Technical Instructor

Our highly skilled practitioners place the individual at the forefront of their care, promoting faster recovery from illness, preventing unnecessary acute hospital admissions, supporting timely discharge from hospital, and maximising independent living wherever possible. This is achieved through creative and unique interventions within each service area. Multi-professional staff collaborate with individuals to ensure they achieve their full potential in terms of independence, health, and wellbeing. The postholder will provide cover/support to each service when required.

Main Duties of the Job
Technical Instructor
Department: Community Therapy NEL
Base: Cromwell Road, Primary Care Centre
37.5 hours Permanent
Salary Range 4: £24,645 - £27,202 per annum - you will be appointed on a fixed salary point within the range.
You will provide a high standard of practice undertaking all aspects of clinical duties appropriate for a Technical Instructor. You will liaise with the wider MDT and participate in the provision at each service in various locations, including home visits and group settings, providing an effective rehabilitation and discharge preparation service.
You will manage a defined caseload of patients using evidence-based/patient-centred principles to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions, including discharge planning.
Complete therapy assessments, considering rehabilitation needs, equipment, and adaptations.
Devise suitable treatment plans for and with individuals, considering their needs and any specific local access criteria.
Supervise therapy programmes and alter/adapt the programme in routine situations (including the patients' homes).
Give out, check, and alter therapeutic equipment, including assessment for mobility aids. Be responsible for the safe use of equipment and aids by patients in your care.
Manage the assessment, treatment, and discharge of a patient caseload, as delegated by the therapist following triage.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Foundation Degree in relevant subject area
* or
* NVQ Level 3 in relevant subject area with 2 years of experience in therapeutic support work
* Minimum Level 2 Numeracy and literacy or equivalent level of competence
* Awareness of health promotion/education
Experience
* Previous experience of and competency in therapeutic support work, ideally as an Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor or equivalent.
* Previous experience of multidisciplinary and/or multi-agency working
* Previous experience of working with volunteers and/or community groups
Skills & Knowledge
* Able to work effectively in a team and in collaboration with other disciplines and agencies.
* Self-motivated to work independently with delegated tasks
* Understanding of Health and Safety, including Moving and Handling issues and Risk Assessment
* Understanding of local community issues in North East Lincolnshire
* Clear and effective communication skills both verbal and written
* Accurate record keeping and competent in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook & Excel
